                                      Yellowstone National Park...
                                              ...America's First and Finest National Park 
 
Within the borders of Yellowstone National Park, the heart of which is a massive volcanic caldera , the  wonders  of over 10,000 geothermal features, including more than 500 geysers, hundreds of waterfalls & cascades and a myriad of lakes, including the largest body of fresh water in North America - Yellowstone Lake,  and one lake ,  Isa Lake , that sits atop the Continental Divide and drains into both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, are showcased.  What's more, the geological wonders of Yellowstone National Park are the backdrop against which one has the opportunity to see a wonderful abundance and variety of wildlife including bison, elk, grizzly bears, American black bears, Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep, mountain goats, deer, pronghorns, gray wolves, coyotes, foxes, mountain lions, yellow-bellied marmots, golden mantled marmots, badgers, otters, and beavers -- just to name a few.  Yellowstone National Park also hosts a fantastic variety of birds including bald eagles, great horned owls, great grey owls, Northern pygmy owls, osprey, golden eagles, ravens, white pelicans, trumpeter swans, mountain bluebirds, Clark's nutcrackers, gray jays, northern flickers, magpies, Canada geese and many, many more.

Yellowstone.Net -- A wonderful resource for those planning a trip to the park or yearning for the park.  The home page provides a wealth of information and the discussion forum hosts lively conversations from tip planning to discussions of the issues of Yellowstone National Park --- sometimes you need the real info from the folks in the know and this is where you can find them. 

The U.S. National Park Service Yellowstone National Park site is another good resource for trip planning.   You can see the schedule for Ranger Led Programs, take virtual tours to learn what can be found where, road open/close schedules, facilities, etc.
